Mr Christos Megalou, Chairman HBA-UK

Christos J. Megalou is the Chairman of the Board of Hellenic Bankers Association- UK. He is a Managing Director of Credit Suisse (CS) and Co-Head of Investment Banking for Southern Europe ( Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece& Cyprus ) based in London.
Mr. Megalou joined CS from BZW, which Credit Suisse First Boston acquired in late 1997, where he was a Director in the Investment Banking division. Prior to joining BZW in London, he was with Barclays in Athens since 1989 where he was a Manager in the Corporate Finance division and later Head of the BZW office in Athens. Mr. Megalou began his career at Arthur Andersen in Athens in 1984 and Agricultural Bank of Greece in Athens in 1986.
Mr. Megalou has a wealth of experience in the Investment Banking. Having executed major strategic transactions for the Hellenic Republic and the majority of Greek Corporates including among others the listing of Hellenic Telecommunications on the New York Stock Exchange, advising National Bank of Greece on the acquisition of Finansbank, the merger between Hellenic Bottling Company and Coca Cola Beverages, the listing of Safe Bulkers on the New York Stock Exchange and a number of secondary offerings for OTE and OPAP.
Mr. Megalou has also led transactions for Royal Dutch Shell, Iberdrola Renovables, Alpha Bank, EFG Eurobank, Vodafone-Panafon, Cosmote, AB Vassilopoulos, Societe Generale
Mr. Megalou is married with two children
Mr. Megalou holds a. B.Sc. in Economics from the University of Athens and an M.B.A. from Aston University in Birmingham U.K
