HBA UK Student Award 2026 - Calling Students of Greek & Cypriot Origin

The Hellenic Bankers Association UK is pleased to announce the launch of the HBA UK Student Award 2026, continuing a longstanding initiative dedicated to recognising and supporting the next generation of Greek and Cypriot talent in finance, economics, business, and related disciplines.

For more than three decades, HBA UK has served as a bridge between the City of London and the wider Greek and Cypriot professional communities. The Student Award forms part of this wider commitment - investing not only in today’s leaders, but in those who will shape the future of the industry.

This year, we are particularly honoured to have the support of Howden Hellas as sponsor of the HBA UK Student Award 2026. Their support reflects a shared belief in opportunity, excellence, professional development, and the importance of empowering young people across the Greek and Cypriot communities.

The award is open to students of Greek or Cypriot origin currently studying in Greece, Cyprus, or the United Kingdom, as well as recent graduates pursuing a future within finance-related fields.

Applicants are invited to submit a written piece in English (~1,500 words) on a topic connected to finance, technology, regulation, or the evolving global business environment.

Emphasis will be placed on:

originality of thought,
intellectual curiosity,
analytical depth,
and forward-looking perspectives.

Submissions will be reviewed by a panel of academics and senior practitioners from the HBA UK network.

In addition to the monetary prize, the award offers something equally valuable: visibility, mentorship, and connection to one of the most established Hellenic professional networks.

The winning student will be recognised during the 31st HBA UK Annual Gala in London on 13 June 2026, in the presence of distinguished guests from banking, finance, business, and public life.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include:

Students of Greek or Cypriot origin
Undergraduate or postgraduate students currently studying in Greece, Cyprus, or the UK
Recent graduates from 2025 onwards
